The Bells Beneath Ravenswick by Jessica Danielle Grant

In Ravenswick, the bell has been gone for generations. Every October, the village rings it anyway.

Nell Vale comes to the isolated English village to document a nine-night observance for a heritage archive. It should be a straightforward assignment: record the procession, interview the residents, and preserve a local tradition before its meaning is lost. But Ravenswick is also where her father died twenty-six years earlier. The recordings he left behind were damaged, and the people who might explain his final days have learned to say very little.

At the edge of the village stands an empty bell frame. When its rope is pulled, a bell answers from somewhere beneath the flooded moor. Voices appear on Nell's recordings that no one heard in the room. Memorials contain gaps where names should be. Each discovery leads Nell further into the history of a devastating flood-and toward the people Ravenswick has chosen to leave out of its story.

The villagers have rules for surviving the nine nights. Cover your mouth. Stay on the marked path. Never answer a voice you cannot see. Nell begins to understand why they obey, but she also sees what their silence has cost. The closer she comes to learning what happened to her father, the harder it becomes to separate a warning from an attempt to keep the past buried.

Armed with her recorder and an archivist's faith in evidence, Nell must decide which voices deserve to be heard-and what might happen when the village finally speaks the names it erased.

The Bells Beneath Ravenswick is an atmospheric folk horror novel of buried bells, haunted recordings, family grief, and a community bound to an old and terrible choice.
